I have no idea if these things will come to pass. It’s merely conjecturing and forecasting, so don’t stake your emotions in this and get all worked up. However, at the same time, this particular trends forecaster, Gerald Celente, has been dead-on in predicting major market crises and global events since 1980. He correctly predicted the ’87 crash, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the dot com bust, amongst a host of other things.
Celente, of the Trends Research Institute, predicted last years’ economic crisis back in 2006 and was right on. He was lambasted as a doomsday-er, laughed at by journalists and people gave up their subscriptions to his journal, basically considering it all rubbish nonsense. Man seems to have an insatiable desire to believe that “everything will be all right,” which is just a cop out to not use your mind to think through the potential for the unthinkable. I mean who likes to think about disaster or hardship when times are good? We just want to be positive for the sake of … being positive. Lot of good the hippie movement has done to American thought process and logic.
Surely the panic of last year was unthinkable and yet it actually happened. And people like Celente and Peter Schiff crowed that it was coming with a vengeance and most turned the other way, choosing to enable the further inflation of the bubble. But people are starting to listen to Celente’s next major prediction, since he was certainly right about the last: it’s the Collapse of ’09. Check out the videos below.
What does this mean for believers? It means you had better start counting the cost of following Christ and gearing up for the unthinkable. Even if it doesn’t happen, which is possible, it is at least a good moment to reflect on the vapor that life is in comparison to the eternal perspective of an eternity with Christ. He’s not just an attachment to your life, a power socket to plug into to be all you can be, only within the context of an economically progressing United States. He is the Lord and Master of the universe, worthy to be submitted to, worthy to suffer for in whatever country or situation you are in. “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” – Matthew 7:13-14
Here is an article Celente wrote that goes into more detail on all of this: The Collapse of `09 (Archive).

And he’s not the only one: Fiscal ruin of the Western world beckons.
Peter Schiff also backs these economic claims. He was the strongest voice in the media in 2006 and 2007 predicting we were heading to the situation we now find ourselves in. Bottom line? Government intervention and tinkering makes things worse. How many more times do we have to go through this before the theory is accepted as proven? I might add that Schiff is of the Austrian economic persuasion, as am I, and with good reason based on all of this.
There are warning signs going off every where about what is ahead. And yet, there are still people who refuse to listen. I believe that to be extremely unwise. At the same time, I could be wrong, because you just never know what the Lord sovereignly has planned out for the future. It is His world after all.
