Ron Paul’s Final Speech on the Floor of Congress

Matt Drudge at the National Press Club in 1998

Matt Drudge makes great points on journalism in this speech he gave to the National Press Club in DC on June 2, 1998. Just think of what the main-stream media has become the 12 years that has passed since this was recorded: a pure marketing outlet for governments and corporations to spin things however which way they deem necessary to suit their agenda. And it’s no wonder the new media, the very thing he envisioned in this speech, is taking off. And it’s no wonder the Federal government (FTC/FCC) wants to squelch it. All his points still apply, and then some.

What I think this shows is that all the marketing in the world won’t “save us” at a certain point because at some point everyone has to start looking at facts. The third world countries feel a New Imperialism approaching from the West under the guise of environmentalism (which I believe is the case to a great degree), the Western public is seeing through the facade of global warming science, and there are too many other little conflicts to get anything done. Oh and to top it off, the entire conference carbon output equals that of 60 third world countries … over a year. Way to go guys … that is if you still believe carbon output is affecting the temperature of the globe.

Couldn’t Have Said it Better Myself – Paglia on Obama

It seems the “glory” and mystique of President Obama is all quickly fading. Not for all, but certainly for many. Those intellectual elites who voted for him are finally beginning to have gotten over the great historical and emotional nature of such an amazing election win. Now to the issues. Liberal commentators, even those at Salon.com and (oddly enough) MSNBC (at least in this one video), are beginning to actually start looking at issues through an intellectual grid instead of blinding emotional infatuation. Of course, with the exception of the Brian Williams of the countryside.

Camille Paglia has written a piece on Salon.com that makes some great points concerning Barack Obama’s speech in Cairo last week. She goes after several other points as well. But what really caught my attention was that her analysis of his assumptions of the three major religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam) couldn’t have been better stated by many conservatives. She has a way with words. I want to quote the best parts and let you read the rest. Great article.
