“Unaffordability is the Best Motivator”

Revealing statement: “There is no better motivator than unaffordability.” … I actually had someone tell me this on Twitter in regard to reducing our need to use cars. So the thinking goes amongst environmentalists and command/control economic theory (Obama administration style): intentionally drive up the cost and drive down the standard of living through policy to get a result of reducing use of all modern technology, in the name of saving the planet. And this is precisely what the UN wants too in Agenda 21: “Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?” – Maurice Strong, Founder of the UN Environment Programme @ Rio Earth Summit, 1992

Copenhagen Climate Change Showdown

The stakes in the climate change/global warming debate are getting raised to levels many of us should really be concerned about now. As if the cap and trade/tax bill wasn’t enough to cause concern for the stability of our economy, there is now a treaty to be signed in Copenhagen at a UN meeting. Some are saying it would cede U.S. sovereignty and accountability to a global government who would essentially be in charge of redistributing wealth from the Western world to third world countries as a sort of penance for our assumed climate crimes.

Many are speaking out on this issue. On the one hand you have the skeptics, such as myself, whose voices are growing, even from within the scientific community (700 dissenting scientists from within the IPCC), who are very concerned about the real intentions of this treaty. On the other hand, you have those, such as Al Gore and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, who are boldly saying we are all in agreement, all on the same page concerning the evidence as well as what needs to be done.

What Should Christians Think About Global Warming?

Dr. Jay Richards untangles the question, “What should Christians think about global warming?”

Freedom of Speech Fight With … The UN?

Just like James White in his analysis, I find it ironic they have Hitchens on for his commentary on this issue. Oddly enough, I agree with Hitchens’ analysis, one of the few things I agree with him on. I just have to wonder what else he would say, as a sort of qualification to this.

More Than 650 Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims

Update on 4/17/2009:

It is now up to 700 international scientists who are dissenting.

This is just too good not to comment on:

Just read some of the quotes from top-level, international scientists at the UN conference on climate change. Unbelievable. To think that Gore and the media would tout man-made global warming as an absolute, definitive consensus in the scientific community … it is a total, flat-out lie. There’s nothing else to call it really. There is apparently more to come from this conference soon.
