Eh? Comment from a “Fan”

Exact quote, copy and pasted from the email:

“Are you saved by grace alone or are you saved by grace alone through “faith” in Christ Jesus? You leave out the actual key to salvation.

There is a difference. No faith no salvation pal! Faith is not belief but proven trustworhiness faithfulness. Paul called it the obedience of faith. So just because you believe in God’s grace is nothing but intellectual asscent to something that happened.

You weren’t just saved you were purchased. You were bought with a price you are not your own nor are you property of James White.”

Coherence please. Context please. 😉

I Want to Believe … So Bad! (X-Files Theme Music Fades In)

(Original): ALIEN microbes living just below the Martian soil are responsible for a haze of methane around the Red Planet, Nasa scientists believe.

(Archived): http://www.westerfunk.net/archives/science/Life%20on%20Mars/

So now, I suppose the implicit argument from NASA goes,”Let’s spend next to a trillion $’s of tax-payer money that we don’t have (maybe more) trying to find out if there MIGHT be any alien microbes on the red planet.”

Sounds reasonable. I mean after all, the only evidence they have of this is the gaseous by-product (something they have known was already there for quite some time now) of a supposed alien microbe, not any actual solid proof of its existence.

NASA has to try and keep us all intrigued somehow; so why not through marketing propaganda of a supposed alien microbe find? Then we can keep funding their multi-billion dollar adventures so we can get higher quality HD pictures back of red dust and rock. Hmmm, fascinating. Maybe next time the pictures will be in HHD and we’ll have a live streaming webcam showing us the latest rock movements on the ole’ Red Planet 🙂 I’m all for some great science and pushing into new frontiers of knowledge, but spending that much money on a little kids Star Trek dream, especially during this economy, does not seem very reasonable, or wise for that matter … that is if that’s what they are trying to implicitly say of course.

More Than 650 Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims

Update on 4/17/2009:

It is now up to 700 international scientists who are dissenting.

This is just too good not to comment on:

Just read some of the quotes from top-level, international scientists at the UN conference on climate change. Unbelievable. To think that Gore and the media would tout man-made global warming as an absolute, definitive consensus in the scientific community … it is a total, flat-out lie. There’s nothing else to call it really. There is apparently more to come from this conference soon.

Dark Helmet’s Evil Twin Sister

So, how is this fashion? Saw this on www.drudgereport.com today. Apparently, this is the latest “cutting edge” fashion on the runway in London. I’m scared and confused … Lonestarrrr! (Movie reference – Spaceballs)

Top Webcam Email Alerts

I’m a nerd. I’m not afraid to hide it, clearly. As a nerd, I love technology. I have a webcam setup at home for security reasons, pointed across my front yard to catch possible intruders that wish to invade my property or cause other harm. I have a threshold setup on the software I run along with my webcam that, when hit, sends an email attached with a picture (or series of pictures) to an offsite email account.

Most of the time, I just get cars passing by, lightning during a storm, really any kind of movement or light change that causes enough of a fluctuation to trigger a webcam picture alert. Sorting through the emails on partly cloudy days is not always fun and many times, I just delete them all because it is too many to sort through. However, there are some rare occasions that I actually get something good, funny, or odd. Here is a sample of some of the best shots from the past two years that I have kept:
This guy thought he might try and get into my garage and steal some junk in the middle of the night last year in June.

Apparently, it proved to be too much of a risk for him with the flood lights along with neighbors who are not afraid to use a gun. Good, please leave. Whew.

I’m pretty sure this jumping spider knew he would send off an email alert and intentionally walked across the viewing range of the webcam.

It really isn’t that uncommon to see people walking across the yard. You would be quite surprised to know how many neighbors do this during the middle of the day 🙂 Anyway, this guy caught my attention only because he looks exactly like my wife’s brother. It was just the electric meter guy though.

I thought this was a fascinating photo study in the custodial/lawn service arts.

Finally, these are two shots from last nights’ thunderstorm that I thought were pretty awesome.

Updated at 2:00pm on 08/02/2008:

I almost forgot … though we live in the city, we apparently are still on a rural mail route (can’t figure that one out). As such, we receive our mail (I would guess) about every other day on average, from a guy in a jerry-rigged minivan. He drives the thing from the passenger seat. Yet the wheel still resides on the drivers side … and I assume he has pedals on the passenger side as well. I’m still trying to figure out how he drives the thing without easily running into stuff. Very interesting to say the least.

Updated: The New Age Trend Within Organizations

The New Age Trend Within Organizations – June 26, 2007

I have done a significant update to my post last year on the New Age trend going on right now on many corporate fronts. I felt it was important to clarify many of my points as well as add more content that I felt was necessary. More and more companies and organizations, including those that are public (such as AT&T and IBM), are apparently picking up this trend. At the end of the post, I have added what I feel to be where all of this could be headed, in the long-term political and private realms. We would do well to pay much closer attention to this and be on guard that, as believers in Christ, we must stand against such things, should they come our way.

Google Servers As Spam Proxies Now? Nah, Couldn’t Be, Or …

Came across something rather strange today. I received my first spam message to my westerfunk.net account after quite a long time. So I decided to check out where it originated from in the mailserver logs. Well it was a Google IP (yes, I ran a WHOIS on the IP to make sure), and the reverse address was hu-out-0506.google.com. Looking into the headers of the email, I observed further down that the originating IP from the spammer to Google’s servers was 87.223.185.13. This IP is in Spain apparently. Could it be spammers are now figuring out a way to use Google to start sending spam now via Google servers? I hope not … here are the [edited] headers.

Sounds Strangley Familiar to New Age “Group” Practices in the Corporate World

That’s all I’m going to say.

Hardcore – Fighting Giraffe’s!

What do you think?

Do you think this guy did anything wrong? People in the audience don’t seem to think so as you can hear in the video … granted he did kind of lose it there, but what did he initially do? Just asked a question? And was the tazing really necessary by the police? In the second video they said he was inciting a riot? Please …
