One of the statements in this article particularly hit me as to why we have to take punitive actions against these rogue nations who are working toward or who possess nuclear weapons; these people don’t understand “NO” with talks unfortunately: “The Iranians are reported to have been encouraged by the fact that no punitive action was taken against North Korea, despite the international outcry that greeted the underground firing. This has persuaded the Iranian regime to press ahead with its own nuclear programme with the aim of testing a low-grade device, which would be difficult for international inspectors to detect.”

Are we this naive, that we would take the bait? Recently in the news we find out that a Chinese submarine was following a fleet of U.S. ships, going undetected for a time. In addition, Iran released a video clip of one of their drones viewing a U.S. aircraft carrier over in the Middle East. Could it be these countries are testing the waters to see where they stand in relation to us technologically? If they ever attacked us, would we have the guts and even the might to contain them? I’m just not so sure anymore. China has a massive military. If these and other countries have the same technology we do, who are we to think we couldn’t be taken over? Do we have the fighting spirit it would take to stop an attack here by these countries?
Well, this could make you fearful, but praise God that as believers in Christ, our status here or in the next world is not dependent upon any nation standing or falling but is dependent on Christ alone and His work on our behalf. Nations rise and nations fall, but the Lord Christ remains the same now and forever. This is our hope and in Him we should not fear. People will ultimately fail us, governments and nations will as well. But Christ will never fail us. In Him, we are “more than conquerors”! And His graces, purchased through His perfect obedience in His submission to the cross, sealed in His resurrection, is what makes us right before God. Even if America were attacked (and eventually I do not believe we will stand), we have perfect acceptance with God for all eternity because of Christ’s work for us. What could be better than that? God is for us in Christ! So if we live in peace, or go through tumultuous times and die, we have all we will ever need in Christ. This is our one perfect hope, that we get God Himself for all eternity. O Father, send your Spirit to change my heart that I may see Jesus Christ clearer. Your love to me is not defined by whether nations rise or fall, but on Christ’s work alone. Give me and others reading this a love for Jesus, Father, the only thing that matters, that surpasses all our circumstances.

Was it really that hard to be consistent, Amnesty? You decry all the “foul-play” committed by the U.S. on a fairly consistent basis and just now you come out and say something negative about those who want to cut your head off too? Well I don’t want to go off on that so much as just give credit where credit is due, and I appreciate the fact that you finally said something against extremists instead of simply trying to protect them like you always do. Israel at least made an effort to try and not hit Lebanese civilians whereas Hizbollah made a concerted effort to hit highly populated civilian areas in northern Israel. Yeah I think they are guilty of war crimes …
Great, here we go again, some activist judge rules that warrantless wiretaps are “unconstitutional”. Have these people any understanding that there are people who want to kill us? Do they realize how much red tape they are creating for law enforcement officials who keep terrorists attacks from occurring here? And it’s funny how these are the very same people who cry and moan about how the CIA, NSA and FBI aren’t doing enough to protect us when terrorists attacks occur (e.g. 9/11). Liberalism is going to destroy this country and we will get hit again because of people like this …

I just don’t get how anyone can say the solution to our world-wide war on terror is more diplomacy. It doesn’t work with terrorists! Just the notion is an oxymoron in this case. On a day when we realize terrorists plotted to blow up planes using liquid explosives kept in shampoo bottles (amongst other mediums), how can we possibly say the answer is diplomacy? These people actually want to kill all of us. They keep devising of ways to kill us, and they’re getting pretty darn good at it. And they won’t stop, not now, not in the future. If you were a U.S. official, and you went to try and have a diplomatic meeting, it’s very likely they would ambush you and your entire group. They don’t try and workout their issues. They have resolved to kill us. And they will not stop until it’s done. All of you out there who want diplomacy to be the solution, just remember, they want to cut your head off too and kill your family too. They don’t negotiate and neither should we. They need to be killed, not tried in our courts. This is war. War is ugly. But we must persevere in order to win it. They won’t stop coming and neither should we stop pulverizing them until this thing is over.
West sets new deadline for Iran: July 12
My question is: what does it matter? What is the Western world going to do? I never have understood Western “deadlines” or UN deadlines. (Understand I’m talking about the West as a whole, not necessarily just the U.S.) We have turned into a passive, reactive people. Okay, you set a deadline, they don’t come through, the deadline passes, so what are you going to do now? Nothing. What, set another deadline that again proves you will do nothing? Many oppose military force, so what else can you do? Impose economic restrictions? You think the Iranian leader cares? Surely not. This is why the U.S. winds up doing something about problems like this eventually because everyone else is just wringing their hands and passively sitting around in hopes the offending country comes around. But they never do. Dictators do not negotiate, unless you put military pressure on them. Even economic pressure doens’t work a lot of times. Have we not learned this lesson from history? (i.e. North Korea being a modern example, those people are starving and their leader could care less).
One thing the West doesn’t get is that the Islamic world-view is totally different than the Western world-view. I’m not at all saying we should not have gone to Iraq, but I do think that trying to push a Western world-view on an Islamic society is like trying to mix oil and vinegar into one substance. Muslims want Sharia law to rule the land, they want a theocracy. A Western world-view does not work well with a theocracy. In the context of negotiating though with leaders we are opposed to, the same concept applies. They do not negotiate as we do. When they set their mind to something, they want to carry it through to the end. Our policy-makers seem to not understand that the Islamic mindset will not compromise on their values the way the West does. They know we are a shifty people, saying one thing and doing another. We’ve proved that to be the case. (Again, understand I’m talking about the West as a whole, not necessarily just the U.S., Iraq proves the U.S. is still willing to take action). They stand their ground and they know we don’t. What they have learned from the West is that our “deadlines” mean absolutely nothing. They know we are simply trying to get them to the “table” and talk about the issues. But the Iranians have already made up their minds. Negotiating with these people is highly foolish on our part. Even if an agreement is made with them, they are so deceitful they will carry through with their plans anyway while we are deceived that we’re actually making progress.
So what’s the answer? Very simply, in order to take care of the problem quickly, military force is needed. I don’t think we have any other option. Negotiations don’t work with this world-view. I don’t like military action, we’re already in a war in Iraq, but has not history been a proving ground for people like Ahmadinejad, what eventually becomes of their dictatorial power? If we could have taken Hitler out before he gained the power he did in Europe, do you not think we would have done it before millions of people died? What’s to say we aren’t a decade away from an Islamic-initiated world war? Think it couldn’t happen? Who would have thought in 1933 that Hitler would have been expanding Nazi rule throughout Europe and North Africa less than a decade later? In order to gain long-term peace, sometimes it is necessary to go through short-term conflict. Iran is no exception. We do not want them to become North Korea (possessing nuclear weapons), but if we sit around wringing our hands, it is inevitable this will be the outcome. They want Israel to disappeaer and if they gain the military might to make it so, I have no doubt they will attempt to make it happen and surely the West will be a target after that (As if it already isn’t a target by extremists).
